The Virtual Learning Center of Cooperating School Districts has two more workshops this summer on your Promethean ActivBoard. Take both, or just select the single session that best suits your needs! Each session runs from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and is $110 for a CSD member and $149 for a non-member. For Level 2 and 3, one graduate credit is available for each workshop (at an additional cost). Creating ActivBoard Lessons to Engage and Motivate Students (Level 2) Learn the advanced features of the ActivInspire and create flipcharts; develop lesson activities that organize lesson resources, make use of sound and images to motivate students and create a story or problem where your students demonstrate knowledge or creativity in a fun way. You’ll be able to create your own usable flipchart, either from scratch or by tweaking a downloaded lesson. PREREQUISITE: Level 1 training or equivalent; not a workshop for beginners. Best Practices in ActivBoard Flipchart Lessons (Level 3) Available for teachers with intermediate or advanced skills in ActivInspire software, this workshop will teach you how to create interactive lesson activities based on curriculum standards & best practices scoring guides. You’ll also collaborate with others to design & build lessons. Lessons created during class will then shared with other teachers through Promethean Planet. PREREQUISITE: Level 2 training or equivalent; not a workshop for beginners; You will be sent a survey of their skills before enrolling. This workshop is Monday, July 9.

The tele is equipped with dual platform computers that use both Windows and Macintosh operating systems. With any class, you will have the option of working either in a PC or Mac environment. Our instructors are skilled, knowledgeable and approachable! Our focus is on student outcomes and developing 21st century skills. These small-sized classes provide you with: hands-on activities, skill building time, plus time to create usable lesson plans with newly acquired technology skills. This Discovery workshop, lead by Stephanie Madlinger, is for dynamic educators who are enthusiastic about designing lesson activities to increase student engagement and participation. Learn how Discovery Education streaming digital media resources can be used with your interactive whiteboards. Engage today’s learner by using images, videos, and audio files with your IWB lessons and by creating multimedia projects with your students. Participants will learn how to integrate DE streaming digital media into a variety of applications such as SMART Notebook, Promethean Flipchart, Moodle, Glogster, VoiceThread, Animoto and more. Skills covered can be applied to any subject area and any grade level!
Throughout your time at CSD’s tele, you’ll discover ways to develop curriculum-based digital media projects and lessons with DE streaming resources. We will touch on copyright compliance issues, practice finding images and music, create voice-overs using SMART & Promethean recorders, and the free download, Audacity.
Prerequisite: Bring a lesson idea, organized in your DE streaming My Content with songs, images, video, and sound files that support your lesson. Participants should already be familiar with SMART Notebook or Promethean Flipchart.

Come learn how to use the Promethean ActivBoard and the ActivInspire software in your classroom. A Promethean ActivBoard combines the look and feel of a regular whiteboard with the power of a computer. In this class, you’ll discover how to locate hundreds of lessons that have already been created for use on the ActivBoard and become familiar with features such as Focus tools, Power tools and the Resource Browser that make your lessons more interactive. This class is for beginners; no prior knowledge of ActivInspire required.

Available for teachers with intermediate or advanced skills in ActivInspire software, this class will teach you how to create interactive lesson activities based on curriculum standards and best practices scoring guides. You’ll also collaborate with others to design and build lessons. You are encouraged to bring any curriculum materials you might need, such as teacher guides and supplemental materials. Lesson activities created in class will then shared with other teachers through the Promethean Planet website.

It’s hard to believe, but this week marks the end of our summer tele classes. The final two classes of the summer are interactive whiteboard workshops- some of our most popular! Thursday is our last beginning SMART Board classs (Level I) of the season, followed by Friday’s beginning Promethean ActivBoard class (also Level I). Our fall and spring classes will be lined up soon, so keep a look-out for those topics and dates.
