We’re excited to share our MIDWEST SPOTLIGHT EDUCATOR bios on The Connected Classroom! These K-12 educators demonstrate motivation, engagement, transformation and connection while using technology to improve teaching and learning. They will share their best practices at the MIDWEST EDUCATION TECHNOLOGY COMMUNITY CONFERENCE in February. This year, we have educators from across the state of Missouri presenting. The METC 2016 MIDWEST SPOTLIGHT EDUCATORS were selected by the METC Conference committee.
Mike McCann is currently in his first year as an assistant principal at Black Hawk Middle School in the Warren County R-III School District. Previously, in the Wentzville School District, he was a seventh grade social studies teacher and then a instructional technology coach. In 2014, Mike was selected to attend Google Teacher Academy and became a Google Certified Teacher (now Google Certified Innovator) and is currently on the planning committee for the Missouri Summit featuring Google for Education. In 2013, he attended the Technology Leadership Academy at EducationPlus. As an instructional leader, Mike strives to help encourage and motivate teachers to want to use technology in the classroom as a way to engage students. He is also helping to boost parent involvement at Black Hawk Middle School through the use of social media.
