Students from eight area high schools created a campaign to prevent cyberbullying by using the hashtag #StartsWithUs and sending messages of kindness, inclusion and connection via social media. These students, under the guidance of CharacterPlus, also created The Clothes Pin Challenge to spread the word about the hashtag: #StartsWithUs is printed on one side of a wooden clothes pin and a kind message on the other side. They “pin” a friend who takes a photo or video of the clothes pin to post on social media. Everyone then “pins” another friend. The schools who planned this campaign are:
Bayless High School
Belleville East High School
Belleville West High School
Fox High School
Ladue Horton Watkins High School
Lafayette High School (Rockwood)
Lindbergh High School
Mehlville High School
Today was the launch, watch it unfold! The participating students will share their experiences this February at the Midwest Education Technology Community Conference. Thanks to the participating schools, community partners and those who continue to promote its positive message.
