CJ HuffFrom Tragedy to Triumph –– The Journey of the Joplin Schools – this Midwest Education Technology Conference Leadership Lunch Keynote takes place Tuesday, February 12, from 12-2 p.m. with Dr. C.J. Huff, Superintendent of Joplin Schools.

Joplin Schools was devastated by an EF-5 tornado on May 22, 2011. In spite of heavy losses, the school district rallied the community to open schools on time 87 days later. This session will provide an overview of some of the current challenges and opportunities faced by the Joplin Schools as it endeavors to turn this terrible tragedy into an amazing opportunity to reinvent public education for its children.

Dr. Huff’s recognitions include People Magazine’s “2011 Heroes Among Us,”  eSchool News 2012 Tech-Savvy Superintendent Award, Missouri Association of School Administrators 2012 Pearce Award. To attend this luncheon at METC, additional registration is required at a cost of $30.
