Would you like to find other people to connect to besides those you see daily? Having a PLN (Personal Learning Network) allows you to learn and share with others around the world, 24/7. A PLN is a reciprocal network that you create based on your interests and needs. By developing your own PLN, you generate multiple opportunities to learn from, connect with, gather information and resources, then create and share with people like you. In this full day workshop for beginners, we will explain how to use an online community to develop your PLN and then share various tools that can help you do so. We will explore online learning communities such as Nings, Wikis, Moodle & LinkedIn; and social networks such as Google+, Facebook and Twitter. Become a digital learner through podcasts, YouTube, TeacherTube & SchoolTube. Set up an RSS feed to read your favorite blogs, news and other information in one place online. The tools shared can also be used in your classroom or professional development activities. Fasten your seat belts for this full day of learning about these free, timesaving, professional development resources.
–> Participants should bring a laptop with wireless Internet access and power cords. Lunch will be provided.
