Have you heard of an edcamp but never participated in person? Here’s your chance- on Saturday, February 11, edcamp STL begins at 8 a.m. with registration, breakfast, networking, and session-building with other educators in attendance. This is also the time when those who choose to present can sign up to lead a session. Even if you don’t feel like facilitating a session, feel free to share ideas and participate in the conversations. At 9 o’clock, organizers Bob Dillon and Chris McGee will kickoff the unconference. This professional development event is free.

Bringing a laptop or netbook is recommended, but not required. Wireless internet will be available, and it is encouraged that you use it! Sessions will be 60 minutes in length, and there will be 15 minutes in between each session to allow participants to navigate the building, chat or tweet, and reflect on their learning. You can also learn more about edcamp STL sponsors during that break time.

Conversations may include-

  • Discussing education issues
  • Sharing a model lesson or unit
  • Conducting an inquiry session into a new tool
  • Sharing something you’re passionate about
  • Discussing new things you’d like to learn more about
  • Sharing activities you’re looking to improve
