On Wednesday, we had the first session of our new Distance Learning Academy. It was also a stand alone tele class for those who opted not to participate in the academy – New Links in Your Classroom with Video-conferencing and Skype was covered! We had a great group of over 20 St. Louis area educators representing the Mehlville School District, the Ritenour School District and several Archdiocese schools.
The next session of the Distance Learning Academy takes place in November. If you want to take New Links in Your Classroom with Videoconferencing and Skype, we are offering this workshop again November 3, 2011. New Links members have a chance to take this professional development for free!
Topics we discussed Wednesday, and will again as the academy continues and at the tele class, include H323 videoconferencing vs. Skype; webconferencing options and equipment needs. This week, we connected to Saint Louis University to learn about AIMS videoconferences from Ray Vollmer, and later we chatted with James Yasko from The Hermitage about their webconferencing opportunities. (By the way, both content providers will be available to talk at our Open House next week).
