Google intends to retire several non-Google name brands and rename them as Google products, according to Mashable. (Mashable is the top source for news in social and digital media, technology and web culture with more than 40 million monthly pageviews). These changes mean that the familiar names of Picasa and Blogger will be relaunched in the next six weeks as “Google Photos” and “Google Blogs,” respectively. Picasa was acquired by Google in 2004 and Blogger was acquired in 2003; Blogger is one of the top 10 most visited websites in the world. Mashable also reports that other Google brands are likely to be affected, though YouTube is not one that will be rebranded. To read the article in full, please click here.
