Mission: Not Impossible

The Technology Leadership Academy (TLA) participated in an e-Mission videoconference from the Challenger Learning Center at Wheeling Jesuit University in West Virginia today. As you can see from the photos, there were some tense moments as the teams tried to execute Operation Montserrat. Operation Montserrat is based on a real event. According to the Challenger Learning Center, the volcano on the normally tranquil island of Montserrat had come to life. As flaming pebbles and lava begin their devastation, emergency response teams also learn a hurricane is approaching. Using real-time hurricane and seismic data, teams of student (or in our case, educator!) specialists assist Mission Control in saving the residents of Montserrat from certain destruction….

…. so, how did it go?

  1. Not to worry! All went well, and the residents of Montserrat were saved by our brilliant Team CSD. What a great learning experience. All the participants loved the simulation and said that they believed students would too. Take time to look into the other e-Missions offered by the Challenger Learning Center at Wheeling Jesuit University! You won’t be disappointed.
