Today author Barri Bumgarner connected with two schools in Wyoming for a creative writing videoconference centered around a crime scene investigation.
The goal of this interactive videoconference session was to allow students the opportunity to investigate, deduce, then synthesize by writing a creative version of the crime. Students observed, interacted, interviewed, and ultimately created then shared in this videoconference with Barri (and the other school). At one point, Barri asked the students who they thought committed the crime (the classes had watched a brief clip of CSI to see the crime scene)- one student thought it was the victim’s wife, and another, his sister.
Barri Bumgarner is a former middle school teacher and the author of books such as Dregs and Slipping. She is working on her PhD at the University of Missouri in Columbia, where she also resides. She presents interactive videoconferences live from Cooperating School Districts in St. Louis, Missouri.
